Life Transitions

I consider most of the issues that we adults struggle with as “life transitions”.  This phrase captures my belief that even these difficult experiences can be navigated successfully.  Thus, the suffering that can accompany them is temporary.  The goal, in my mind is not only to adapt, but to expand and gain soulful complexity as a result of being challenged in such a way.

The life transitions most frequently presented to me are:

Health Transitions:
Individuals who have experienced a serious injury or illness (physical or mental) that interferes with their work, relationships, financial stability and most importantly, their very identity.
Family/Social Transitions:
Adults who are adapting to changes in their primary social units, including separation, parenthood, divorce, or loss of a loved one.
Career Transitions:
Many of us spend a good portion of our time working.  When conflict in the workplace arises or when employment is lost, changed, or is unfulfilling, we may be left feeling disillusioned, lost and unworthy.
